Amid widespread speculation regarding the distribution of portfolios in BNP’s new cabinet, the party has released a list detailing the responsibilities of its ministers and state ministers.
According to the list, which was issued on the party’s official letterhead and obtained by the TIMES of Bangladesh, the document bears the signature of BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman.
The distribution identifies BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir as the lead for Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development (LGRD) and Co-operatives.
Standing Committee member Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury has been assigned the Ministry of Finance and Planning, while the Ministry of Home Affairs will be headed by Salahuddin Ahmed.
Further key appointments include Iqbal Hasan Mahmud, who has been tasked with the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources.
Hafiz Uddin Ahmed (Bir Bikram) is designated as the Minister for Liberation War Affairs, and Abu Zafar Md. Zahid Hossain will take charge of both the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs and the Ministry of Social Welfare.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is set to be led by Dr. Khalilur Rahman, serving as a technocrat minister. Additionally, Abdul Awal Mintoo has been assigned the Ministry of Forest, Environment and Climate Change, while Kazi Shah Mofazzal Hossain Kaikobad will oversee the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
