Zubaida Rahman, wife of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, said on Monday that providing training to women entrepreneurs will play a vital role in alleviating poverty and enhancing family solvency.

She remarked that a beautiful and desired society can be established if every individual fulfils their responsibilities from their respective positions.

Zubaida made these observations as the chief guest at annual gathering and ‘Anandmela’ (funfair) of Police Nari Kalyan Samity (PUNAK), held at Rajarbagh Police Lines in the capital to mark Police Week-2026.

At the commencement of the programme, Zubaida alongside special guests and invitees, viewed a documentary detailing the various activities of PUNAK. She subsequently presented certificates to meritorious students at Shaheed Police Smriti School and College.

In her address, she emphasised that every girl must dream of building her own future, noting that it is essential to create opportunities to turn those dreams into reality.

Zubaida further mentioned that the initiatives of PUNAK are inspiring the next generation to contribute to the nation’s development.

Speaking as a special guest, Hasina Ahmed, wife of Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed, asserted that genuine development is impossible without the empowerment of women. She added that PUNAK is making a positive contribution to the country’s economy and Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
