Police recovered several handwritten notes from the room of Mariam Khatun, the second wife of Satkhira‑4 MP Gazi Nazrul Islam, after her body was found hanging in a flat at NAM Bhaban in Sher‑e‑Bangla Nagar.
The notes reflected deep emotional distress, including feelings of betrayal and deception.
Police also seized diary pages from her room after Mariam’s body was found hanging Sunday evening.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Md Fazlul Karim of Tejgaon Division told the media that police initially believe the writings may belong to Mariam, but confirmation will come only after forensic analysis by the Criminal Investigation Department.
One of the notes, written in black ink on official parliament letterhead, described a sense of defeat in a personal struggle.
Another note read: “I bowed to you repeatedly only out of affection … otherwise I am not as cheap as you think.”
On one page it was written: “He was another woman’s husband—his wife had the rightful claim on paper. And I was foolish … I made someone else’s husband my chosen man … Losing is more dignified than sharing half of someone … Love is never meant to be divided—it is either whole or incomplete.”
