The Ministry of Home Affairs has decided to form committees in all educational institutions to prevent drug abuse and gambling among students.
According to a ministry message, the initiative is part of the government’s broader efforts to ensure a safe and healthy environment in schools, colleges and universities.
However, the notification did not specify when the committees would be formed or who would be included in them.
Recently, the parliamentary standing committee on the Ministry of Home Affairs identified drugs and gambling as among the country’s major problems and recommended effective measures to eliminate them.
The recommendation was made at a meeting in the parliament building chaired by Committee President Zainul Abedin.
