The Cabinet Division has released the wealth statements of Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus and other members of the interim government, showing a general increase in assets across the board.
The statements, based on holdings between 30 June 2024 and 30 June 2025, were published via a notification on Tuesday. This disclosure follows a 1 October notification aimed at ensuring transparency within the administration.
Chief adviser’s assets increase
According to the report, the total assets of Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus increased over the one-year period. On 30 June 2024, his total assets stood at Tk14.01 crore, which rose to Tk15.62 crore by 30 June 2025.
The growth has been attributed to increases in savings certificates, fixed deposits, and dividends received from shares. In contrast, the wealth of his wife, Afrozi Yunus, saw a decline, falling from Tk2.11 crore to Tk1.27 crore during the same period.
Financial growth across the cabinet
An analysis of the statements indicates that the majority of advisers saw their wealth grow over the past year. Finance Adviser Salehuddin Ahmed’s assets rose from Tk7.10 crore to Tk7.96 crore, while Foreign Affairs Adviser Touhid Hossain saw an increase from Tk2.77 crore to Tk2.93 crore.
Planning Adviser Wahiduddin Mahmud reported an increase from Tk15.09 crore to Tk16.22 crore, citing bank deposits and contractual income as the primary drivers.
The assets of Law Adviser Asif Nazrul grew from Tk1.48 crore to Tk1.6 crore, and Environment Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan’s wealth rose from Tk2.26 crore to Tk3.12 crore.
Adviser Adilur Rahman Khan saw a significant jump in his assets – from Tk98.22 lakh to Tk2.52 crore – primarily due to inherited property.
Among the advisers, Commerce Adviser Sheikh Bashir Uddin remains one of the wealthiest individuals. His assets increased slightly from Tk91.10 crore to Tk91.65 crore over the year.
Wealth of younger and former advisers
The statements also provided details on younger members of the administration. Former adviser Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuiyan, who did not have a Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) in 2024, reported total assets of Tk15.34 lakh in 2025.
Meanwhile, Mahfuj Alam’s wealth increased from Tk8.20 lakh to Tk12.76 lakh.
In a separate note, the statement mentioned that Lutfey Siddiqi, the Chief Adviser’s Special Envoy for International Affairs, does not accept any government benefits or facilities.
Regarding international holdings, Khalilur Rahman was reported to have Tk22 lakh in domestic assets alongside significant movable and immovable property abroad. His overseas holdings in Geneva and Washington are valued at $4.60 million.
