United Commercial Bank PLC (UCB) has announced the appointment of M Latif Hasan as Deputy Managing Director (DMD) and Head of Structured Corporate. Hasan, a distinguished banker with over three decades of experience in the banking sector, brings extensive expertise and strategic insights that are expected to enhance UCB’s corporate banking capabilities.
Prior to joining UCB, Hasan served as Head of Corporate Banking at Habib Bank Limited (HBL) Bangladesh. He has held several senior leadership positions throughout his career, including Deputy Managing Director and Chief Business Officer at Standard Bank Limited. Hasan has also worked at Citibank NA, Eastern Bank Limited, and Prime Bank Limited, where he held key roles in corporate relationship management, business development, credit and risk management, finance, and banking operations.
At UCB, Hasan will lead the Structured Corporate Division, focusing on expanding specialised corporate financing solutions, strengthening client relationships, and driving business growth through innovative and sustainable financial strategies. He is also recognised for his contributions as a member of the Basel-II Core Implementation Team and the Tax Reform Committee, reflecting his involvement in critical regulatory and policy-level initiatives.
Hasan holds a Master’s degree in Finance from the University of Dhaka and an MBA from Victoria University of Technology, Melbourne, Australia. He is also a certified professional in Credit Skill Assessment (CSA) from Omega Performance, USA. Throughout his career, he has participated in numerous seminars, workshops, and professional training programmes, both locally and internationally.
UCB’s management has expressed strong confidence in Hasan’s ability to drive the bank’s structured corporate business forward and contribute to the overall growth of the institution
