Nook Dhaka is set to host ‘Wayfarers of the Shadowed Path’, a four-day solo art exhibition by artist Masudur Rahman, opening on October 24 at 6:00 pm, at its gallery space in Banani, Dhaka.
The exhibition invites visitors on a contemplative journey through the delicate balance between existence and emptiness, between nature and the cosmos. Renowned artist Monirul Islam and cultural activist Shankar Shawjal will join the opening ceremony as special guests.
Curated by Farhana Nizam Chowdhury and Mahbub Shahriar, the exhibition will feature over 30 artworks by Rahman. It will remain open to all visitors from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm daily until October 27.
Complementing the showcase, a Live Art event will be held on Saturday, October 25, followed by a Poetry Recitation during the closing ceremony on October 27 evening.
In Wayfarers of the Shadowed Path, Rahman explores what he calls “the unseen,” a realm where shadow breathes, smoke curls through silence and emptiness takes form as presence.
His paintings unfold in quiet tones, evoking a meditative dialogue between light and absence, matter and memory; and the artist’s canvases whisper rather than declare, each work offering what Rahman describes as “a glimpse of eternity” within the transient.
The exhibition refrains from spectacle, instead summoning the quiet force of what lies behind perception. Smoke, shadow and emptiness become not voids but subtle textures, spiritual presences rendered in stillness.
“To enter is to be still. To linger is to listen,” Rahman notes of the experience he envisions for viewers.
Born in Bakerganj, Barisal, Masudur Rahman is known for his evocative visual language that bridges the human and the cosmic. Beginning his creative journey through poetry, Rahman later studied Oriental Art at the Department of Fine Arts, Dhaka University, completing both his Honors and Master’s degrees. His works frequently contemplate desire, dreams and the vastness of the universe reflected within the human spirit.
His earlier solo exhibitions include Cosmic Cadence at Dwip Gallery in October 2023 and Journey of Cosmos at Alliance Française de Dhaka in September 2024.
Nook Dhaka, the host venue, is a contemporary gallery and cultural space dedicated to promoting both emerging and established artists while fostering community engagement and sustainable creative practices in Bangladesh.
