Victoria Beckham has made a low-key return to social media as headlines continue to swirl around her son Brooklyn Beckham’s public comments about tensions within the family.
Rather than addressing the controversy, the fashion designer and former Spice Girl used her Instagram Stories to mark the birthday of fellow band member Emma Bunton. Victoria shared a short throwback clip from the Spice Girls era and posted a brief birthday message expressing her affection for Bunton. The timing of the post drew attention, as discussion around Brooklyn’s remarks remained widespread online.
Brooklyn, 26, reignited speculation about his relationship with his parents earlier this week after sharing a series of posts in which he spoke openly about feeling hurt and marginalised. He claimed that his wife, actor Nicola Peltz, has been repeatedly disrespected and described the strain the situation has placed on their family ties. The comments followed years of rumours surrounding his 2022 wedding and his relationship with his parents, David and Victoria Beckham.
While Victoria has so far avoided commenting publicly, David Beckham appeared to touch on the issue indirectly during a recent interview on CNBC’s Squawk Box. Without referring to the situation directly, he spoke about the influence of social media on young people and the pressures faced by his children as they grew up in the public eye. He said he believed mistakes were part of learning and stressed the importance of using social media responsibly.
Brooklyn’s posts, which ran to several pages, also criticised ongoing media coverage of the family and suggested that attempts to keep matters private had failed. He said he felt compelled to speak out after years of silence.
Representatives for David and Victoria Beckham have not issued any formal response.
The Beckhams share four children: Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz and Harper. For now, Victoria’s brief birthday message stands as her only public activity amid the continuing family discussion.
