Veteran actor Shams Suman, renowned for his commanding presence on both television and film, has passed away at LabAid Hospital in Dhaka on Tuesday. The actor, who had been battling multiple health issues, was under close medical care when he succumbed to his long-term ailments.

Suman’s career, spanning over two decades, began in the late 1990s with television dramas and grew into one of the country’s most recognised acting talents. His memorable performances in numerous popular dramas earned him widespread acclaim, while his deep, expressive voice and natural screen presence distinguished him from his peers.

In cinema, Suman won the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actor in 2008 for his role in ‘Swapno Puron’. His last film appearance was in ‘Ayna Kahini’ (2013), directed by Rajjak.

News of his death has sparked an outpouring of grief across Bangladesh’s cultural community. Fellow actors, directors, and fans have taken to social media to pay tribute to his contributions, remembering him as a dedicated artist whose work left a lasting impression on audiences.
