At a time when most Bangladeshi films struggle to stay in theatres beyond a few weeks, Tanim Noor’s ‘Utshob’ has achieved a rare feat by completing a 200-day theatrical run.
Released during Eid, the film continues to draw audiences despite having premiered on OTT platforms four months ago. It is currently screening daily at Jamuna Blockbuster in Dhaka and Lion Cinemas in Keraniganj, where multiple shows remain in demand.
Such extended runs are uncommon in Bengali cinema, particularly in recent years when declining footfall and limited release windows have challenged theatrical exhibition. Against this backdrop, Utshob has emerged as a standout success.
Director Tanim Noor described the milestone as deeply encouraging, noting that audience support has fuelled his confidence as he prepares his next project, Bonlota Express.
The film’s commercial performance has been equally notable. Utshob has earned more than Tk100 million from domestic ticket sales, with total worldwide earnings exceeding Tk130 million. All revenue has come from theatrical screenings, reinforcing the film’s status as one of the year’s most significant box office achievements.
