Police recovered the body of an unidentified man from the campus of the University of Science and Technology Chittagong (USTC) on Saturday night. The body was recovered from the university campus, located in the city’s Khulshi area, at around 11pm.
Police sources say the skull had been separated from the head. The face was so disfigured that identification was not possible. It could not be immediately confirmed whether the deceased was a student of the university or an outsider.
The body was subsequently sent to the Chattogram Medical College (CMC) Hospital morgue for an autopsy after an inquest report was prepared.
Attempts were made to contact USTC Registrar Dilip Barua several times via mobile phone for comment, but he did not respond.
Arifur Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Khulshi Police Station, said that police reached the spot and recovered the body after being informed. Efforts to identify the deceased are currently underway.
