The Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) police recovered two unexploded cocktails, wrapped in tape and contained in chewing tobacco cans, from the metro rail track between Kawran Bazar and Shewrapara in the capital on Friday.

MRT Police Inspector (Investigation) Sohel Chowdhury stated that the two cocktails were found on the track atop pillars 288 and 289 of the metro rail.

He said, “We received a tip off around 9am. The personnel who perform maintenance work on the line were the first to spot the two cocktails.” He confirmed that no damage was caused to the metro rail line. A case regarding the incident is underway at Kafrul Police Station.

Subsequently, the recovered cocktails were taken to a safe location and defused.

When asked if there was any CCTV footage of the incident site, Inspector Chowdhury said, “There is no CCTV footage of the exact spot where the two cocktails were found because the track line is very high up.

“However, police are collecting and analyzing CCTV footage from various surrounding buildings and shops at ground level.”
