A fire broke out in the stationary Haor Express train at Kamalapur Railway Station at around 9:30pm on Sunday, leaving one carriage reduced to ashes.
However, no passengers were on board at the time, and the blaze has since been extinguished.
The Mohanganj-bound Haor Express departs daily at 10:15pm. The fire erupted whilst the train was waiting at the station for its scheduled departure.
Railway authorities said that it remains uncertain whether the incident was an act of sabotage or caused by other reasons.
