Udinese defeated Barcelona and Nottingham Forest to win the Triangular Friuli Venezia Giulia Cup in preseason.
The tournament took place in a new format at the Bluenergy Stadium in Udine, Italy. Each team played two 45 minute matches.
Udinese started the competition with a 1-0 win over Nottingham Forest.
Oumar Solet scored the only goal in the 28th minute. The defender rose to meet a corner and powered his header past Forest goalkeeper Matz Sels.
Barcelona then faced Nottingham Forest in the second match.
Both teams had chances to score. Morgan Gibbs White hit the woodwork for Forest, while Dan Ndoye saw an effort stopped by Wojciech Szczesny.
Barcelona also went close through Brian Fariñas, who struck the post. Hamza Abdelkarim then tested Sels.
The match remained level until late in the game.
Raphinha finally broke the deadlock from the penalty spot in stoppage time. Nikola Milenkovic was punished for handball and the Brazilian converted the penalty to give Barcelona a 1-0 victory.
That result set up the final match between Barcelona and Udinese.
Barcelona controlled much of the possession despite naming a young side. Jules Kounde and Anthony Gordon were among the experienced players in the team.
Ebrima Tunkara also looked lively for Barcelona. The 16 year old caused problems when he moved forward with the ball.
Udinese started well but Barcelona began to take control as the match went on.
However, the Italian side found the decisive goal on the counterattack.
Vakoun Issouf Bayo found space inside the penalty area after a quick move. The Ivory Coast forward calmly lifted the ball over Szczesny to score a late winner.
Udinese held on for a 1-0 victory and lifted the Friuli Venezia Giulia Cup.
The Italian club will now turn its attention to competitive football. Barcelona and Nottingham Forest, meanwhile, will continue their preseason preparations before the new campaign begins.
