Ebadot Hossain reached a career milestone in Abu Dhabi on Monday, becoming the fifth Bangladesh fast bowler to take 50 wickets in Test cricket after dismissing Abdul Malik early in Afghanistan’s chase of 479.

The right-arm pacer struck in the second over of the innings, finding Malik’s edge with a good-length delivery that was safely collected by wicketkeeper Litton Das. It was the second time Ebadot had dismissed the Afghanistan batter in the same manner in the match.

Ebadot entered the one-off Test with 45 wickets and added four in Afghanistan’s first innings, finishing with 4-56. Malik’s dismissal took his tally to 50 in 26 Tests, making him the eighth Bangladesh bowler overall to reach the mark.

Hasan Mahmud became the fourth Bangladesh pacer to achieve the feat a day earlier, reaching 50 wickets in just 17 Tests. Mashrafe Mortaza, Shahadat Hossain and Taskin Ahmed are the other Bangladesh fast bowlers to have reached the landmark. Mashrafe has 78 Test wickets, Shahadat 72 and Taskin 59.

Among Bangladesh bowlers across all disciplines, Taijul Islam leads the Test wicket tally with 272, followed by Shakib Al Hasan with 246 and Mehidy Hasan Miraz with 226. Mohammad Rafique finished his Test career with 100 wickets, while Hasan and Ebadot have now both reached 50.

Bangladesh declared their second innings at 372-7 after Litton’s seventh Test century, setting Afghanistan a target of 479. The hosts had been bowled out for 240 in their first innings, leaving the visitors with a 106-run lead before their declaration.
