United Commercial Bank (UCB) PLC organised a Hajj agency conference in Chattogram to strengthen partnerships with agencies and improve services for pilgrims.
The conference was held at a hotel in Chattogram on Tuesday, according to a press release.
United Commercial Bank PLC Additional Managing Director Abul Alam Ferdous attended the programme as the chief guest.
Hajj Agencies Association of Bangladesh Vice Chairman of the Central Committee and Chairman of the Chattogram Zonal Committee Alhaj Shariat Ullah Shahid and Hajj Agencies Association of Bangladesh Joint General Secretary of the Central Committee and Secretary of the Chattogram Zonal Committee Alhaj Mohammed Abdul Malek were present as special guests.
United Commercial Bank Head of Chattogram Metro Region, Head of SME and Agri Banking Division, senior officials of the bank and representatives from leading Hajj agencies in Chattogram also attended the event.
“Hajj is a highly sensitive and sacred religious obligation, and the bank remains committed to ensuring secure and timely financial services for pilgrims,” said United Commercial Bank PLC Additional Managing Director Abul Alam Ferdous.
He said the bank has been providing Hajj-related services for the past four years through its network of 423 branches and sub-branches and more than 602 agent banking outlets across the country.
The bank currently ranks as the fifth largest in Hajj operations in the country, he added.
The bank started Hajj services with 61 agencies and expanded the number to 107 in 2026.
United Commercial Bank aims to bring more than 200 agencies under its Hajj service network by 2027, said Abul Alam Ferdous.
The conference also highlighted new initiatives aimed at making Hajj operations easier and more secure.
A dedicated team will work with agencies to ensure prompt resolution of financial matters related to Hajj services, said the bank.
Senior officials of the bank and representatives of Hajj agencies from Chattogram took part in discussions on strengthening coordination and improving services for pilgrims.
