Libya has pledged its full support for Bangladesh’s Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman as a candidate for the presidency of the 81st session of United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
The commitment was formally conveyed on Thursday afternoon when the Libyan Ambassador to Bangladesh, Abdulmutalib SM Suliman, paid a courtesy call on the Prime Minister’s Foreign Affairs Adviser Humayun Kabir at the Prime Minister’s Office in Tejgaon.
During the meeting, Ambassador Suliman expressed Libya’s complete endorsement of Khalilur Rahman’s candidacy for the UNGA presidency for the 2026-2027 term.
Kabir expressed his sincere thanks and gratitude to the Libyan government for this support. He remarked that Libya’s backing of Bangladesh’s candidacy on the international stage is expected to further strengthen the existing friendly relations between the two nations.
The meeting also provided an opportunity to discuss bilateral relations, strategies for increasing mutual cooperation, and working together on various international issues.
