Arman, a top gang leader in Dhaka’s Mohammadpur, has been arrested with a firearm by the Special Response Battalion (SRB‑2).
He is a key member of the Arman‑Shahrukh gang. SRB‑2 Commander Additional DIG Naymul Hasan confirmed the arrest on Monday.
According to SRB sources, Arman is an accused in the recent killing of Patali group leader Forhad in Keraniganj, who was hacked and shot dead.
His name also appears in the case over the killing of Alex Emon group leader Emon in Rayerbazar. He is also accused in several other cases filed with Mohammadpur Police Station.
A sharp weapon used in Forhad’s killing was recovered, along with a pistol and a magazine at the time of Arman’s arrest.
Legal proceedings against him are underway.
Details of the arrest and recovery will be disclosed at a press briefing later in the day.
