Two workers were killed and six others injured after a Dhaka-bound bus rammed into a group of workers in front of the Keraniganj Central Jail area in the capital.
According to police and local sources, the accident occurred when the bus struck workers who were sitting in and around parked vehicles on Wednesday, leaving two dead at the scene and several others injured.
The deceased were identified as Mahfuz, 35, and Jamal, 36. Their bodies were sent to Sir Salimullah Medical College Mitford Hospita morgue for autopsy.
Among the injured are Chan Miah, 40, Selim, 35, Borkot, 32, and Jasim, 35. Two of the injured are reported to be in critical condition and have been admitted to hospital, while four others received primary treatment.
Police said they are investigating the incident to determine the exact cause of the crash and whether any negligence was involved.
