Donald Trump has stated that Chinese President Xi Jinping is “very happy” that the Strait of Hormuz is now open or “rapidly opening”.
In a post shared on Truth Social, the US President remarked that his upcoming meeting with President Xi in China, scheduled for 14-15 May, “will be a special one and, potentially, Historic”.
Trump further added that “much will be accomplished!”.
China, which remains the largest purchaser of Iranian oil, receives approximately 38 percent of its supplies via the Strait of Hormuz.
Beijing has played a pivotal role in urging Iran to enter negotiations with the United States and has expressed its support for the ceasefire and the resumption of peace talks.
