The 117th edition of Jabbar-er Boli Khela will be livestreamed on Toffee, with Banglalink sponsoring the event for the 12th time.
According to the company, the traditional wrestling competition will be held on Friday at Laldighi Maidan in Chattogram, alongside a three-day Baishakhi fair from Thursday to Saturday.
Preparations for the event were outlined at a press conference held at the Chattogram City Corporation Library.
Jabbar-er Boli Khela, introduced in 1909 by local merchant Abdul Jabbar Sawdagor, has grown into one of Chattogram’s major cultural gatherings.
Held in the first month of the Bangla year, the competition attracts wrestlers and spectators from across the country.
Banglalink said its continued sponsorship reflects a focus on promoting national and regional culture alongside its digital services.
The livestream is expected to allow audiences nationwide to watch the event in real time, expanding access beyond Chattogram.
The initiative also highlights the growing role of digital platforms in preserving traditional sports and engaging younger audiences.
Descendants of Abdul Jabbar and members of the local community remain involved in organising the event, ensuring its continuity and authenticity.
The sponsorship is expected to strengthen the event’s connection with wider audiences across the country, the company added.
