Bangladesh’s women’s team have enjoyed several encouraging rises in the latest ICC Women’s ODI rankings released on Tuesday, with strong World Cup performances reflected in individual progress across departments. The Tigresses remain seventh in the team standings, above West Indies and Pakistan and just behind Sri Lanka.
In the bowling rankings, Fahima Khatun climbed an impressive 18 places to 27th after a series of tidy spells through the middle overs. Rabeya Khan rose three spots to 18th, while Nahida Akter stayed among the leading names despite dropping two places to 11th. Marufa Akter, who has often provided early breakthroughs during the campaign, slipped four places to 46th.
Progress was also evident in the all-rounder category. Rabeya continued her rapid rise by jumping 23 places to 26th, one ahead of Fahima, who improved by 15 spots. Ritu Moni also gained ground, moving nine places up to 62nd.
In the batting list, Sharmin Supta remained steady at 31st. Captain Nigar Sultana Joty and Farzana Haque Pinky fell to 36th and 39th after quieter performances, while Sobhana Mostary’s consistency earned her a 15-place surge to 70th.
Globally, the update highlighted the importance of contributions at the ongoing ICC Women’s World Cup. India opener Smriti Mandhana retained the top spot. Australia’s Alyssa Healy climbed nine places to joint-fourth after scoring a century against India, while South Africa’s Laura Wolvaardt moved up three places to join her. New Zealand lower-order batter Nadine de Klerk enjoyed one of the biggest boosts, rising 26 places to 32nd following decisive innings.
For Bangladesh, the shifts reinforce a sense of steady progress. Spirited displays in narrow defeats to England and South Africa, along with a commanding opening win against Pakistan, have not gone unnoticed. With three group matches remaining, the focus is likely to turn to converting individual gains into collective success.
