The West Indies cricket team arrived in Dhaka today to play a six-match white-ball series against Bangladesh, featuring three One-Day Internationals and three Twenty20 Internationals.
The tourists will have two days of practice before opening the ODI series on 18 October at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur. The second and third ODIs will also be staged at the same venue on 21 and 23 October.
Following the ODI leg, the two sides will move to Chattogram for the T20I series, scheduled for 27, 29 and 31 October at the Bir Shrestha Flight Lieutenant Shaheed Matiur Rahman Cricket Stadium.
Shai Hope has been named captain for both formats, with established players Gudakesh Motie, Sherfane Rutherford, Jayden Seales, Romario Shepherd and Brandon King included across the squads. There is a maiden ODI call-up for former West Indies Under-19 captain Ackeem Auguste, while experienced opener Evin Lewis will miss the tour as he continues to recover from a wrist injury.
The West Indies last played a T20I series in Bangladesh in December 2018 and an ODI series in January 2021. Bangladesh toured the Caribbean in December last year, where they were swept 3–0 in the ODI series.
Bangladesh meanwhile are regrouping after a disappointing campaign in the United Arab Emirates, where they suffered a 3–0 whitewash in the ODI series against Afghanistan. The first batch of the national squad has already assembled in Dhaka, with the second group set to arrive later in the evening. The Bangladesh Cricket Board is yet to announce the ODI squad but wicketkeeper-batter Litton Das is almost certain to miss the series as he recovers from a left-side strain sustained during the Asia Cup last month.
All ODI matches will begin at 1:30 pm in Mirpur, while the T20Is in Chattogram are set for a 6:00 pm start. The West Indies are scheduled to leave Bangladesh on 1 November.
