Bangladesh will play a three-match T20I series against Nepal in Kathmandu next March, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) confirmed on Wednesday.
The matches will be played on March 26, 28 and 30, with the series dedicated to the memory of those who lost their lives in the devastating floods that recently hit Nepal.
The series comes after the Nepal Cricket Association (CAN) approached the BCB with a proposal for a bilateral series. BCB cricket operations in-charge Shahriar Nafees had revealed the development last Saturday.
“Nepal Cricket Association sent us a proposal some time ago expressing their interest in playing a bilateral series with Bangladesh,” Nafees told reporters.
The proposal was also discussed during a September 10 meeting between Nepal’s Ambassador to Bangladesh, Ghanshyam Bhandari, and Bangladesh’s State Minister for Youth and Sports, Aminul Haque.
Bhandari said Nepal were ready to either tour Bangladesh or host the Tigers.
Aminul welcomed the proposal and highlighted the role of sports diplomacy in strengthening regional ties, while asking the ambassador to submit a formal proposal for the series.
