Three members of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) intelligence wing were injured after being attacked by a robber gang in Nabinagar upazila of Brahmanbaria on Monday afternoon.
The incident took place around 4:30pm in Khagatoa village under Ratanpur union. Injured Malek, Rashed and Kajal are members of the RAB-9 intelligence unit.
According to local and RAB sources, the trio went to the village to gather intelligence on the “Shafiq robber gang” and a recent assault on a VAT official on 9 May. Members of the gang allegedly took them hostage, assaulted them and injured one with a sharp weapon.
Other RAB members later rescued them and took them to Nabinagar Upazila Health Complex for treatment.
Md Noornabi, company commander of the RAB-9 Brahmanbaria camp, confirmed the incident, saying one member required stitches for a head injury.
A case is being prepared for filing with the local police station.
