Police have arrested eight people in connection with an attempted land grab in the Chand Udyan area of Mohammadpur, Dhaka.
In a separate incident, five individuals were detained over an attack on a house in Shyamoli Housing, Adabar.
The arrests were confirmed in text messages sent to the media by Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) around 11:15am on Monday.
However, DMP did not release the names of those arrested.
The attack on the Adabar house occurred on Saturday, when a group of 15 to 20 people armed with sharp weapons and firearms stormed the building. Allegations suggest the eight‑storey house was targeted for illegal occupation.
According to several media reports, the owner of the house had earlier faced a similar incident. His nephew said the property was occupied once before, after 5 August 2024.
Following Saturday’s attack, a case was filed at Adabar Police Station.
