A man was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Rupsa upazila of Khulna on Monday evening, 51 days after his son was hacked to death.
The deceased was identified as Aktar Dhali, 64, of Durjani Mahal village under Aichgati union.
Police said Aktar was sitting in front of his house at around 7:30pm when unidentified assailants approached and shot him before fleeing the scene.
The killing triggered panic among local residents.
Rupsa Police Station Officer-in-Charge Anwar Zahid said senior police officials visited the scene after receiving information about the incident.
Aktar’s son, Joy Dhali, 27, was hacked to death in the same village on 15 August.
