Police have arrested three individuals and seized counterfeit notes worth Tk50 lakh from the Gulshan area of the capital, officials said on Sunday.
A team of Gulshan Thana police conducted a raid at Road No 36 around 3:20pm based on secret information and arrested Md Abu Hanif Paluwan (50), Rezaul Sheikh (40), and Abdullah Majumdar Ashik (24), according to a press release issued by DMP’s Media and Public Relations Division.
Counterfeit notes worth Tk50 lakh and a private car were recovered from the custody of the arrested individuals, police said.
Preliminary investigation suggests the recovered notes are counterfeit, and during initial interrogation, the arrested individuals confessed to being involved in the counterfeit money business for a long time, according to Gulshan Thana sources.
Legal action against the arrested individuals is underway, police said.
