Three children suspected of having measles died in the country in the past 24 hours till Thursday morning, taking the total number of deaths from suspected and confirmed measles cases to 986 since 15 March.
Two suspected measles deaths were reported in Dhaka and one in Sylhet during the period. No deaths were reported from the other divisions.
During the same period, 964 suspected measles cases were detected and 80 cases were confirmed, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The figures were disclosed in a press release issued by the DGHS Integrated Control Centre on Thursday.
A total of 977 suspected measles patients were admitted to hospitals, while 988 were discharged after recovery during the 24-hour period, the DGHS said.
Since 15 March, the country has reported 1,61,148 suspected measles cases, of which 19,527 have been confirmed.
Of the suspected cases, 1,41,449 patients were hospitalised and 1,36,405 were discharged after treatment, according to the DGHS.
Of the 986 total deaths, 887 were among suspected measles cases and 99 among confirmed cases.
Dhaka reported the highest number of suspected cases in the past 24 hours, with 368, followed by Chattogram with 182, Sylhet 137, Barishal 116, Khulna 85, Mymensingh 52, Rajshahi 16 and Rangpur eight.
Since 15 March, Dhaka has recorded the highest number of suspected cases at 69,641, followed by Chattogram with 31,514, Barishal 17,595, Sylhet 11,515, Khulna 10,453, Rajshahi 9,822, Mymensingh 7,740 and Rangpur 2,868.
Meanwhile, 1,97,02,523 people had received measles-rubella vaccines under the national campaign by 3 September, against a target of 1,80,15,064, according to campaign data.
The overall coverage stood at 109.4 per cent.
Mymensingh recorded the highest coverage among the divisions at 114.8 per cent, followed by Chattogram at 112.4 per cent, Dhaka 110 per cent, Rangpur 109.6 per cent, Rajshahi 107.7 per cent, Khulna 104.8 per cent, Barishal 104.4 per cent and Sylhet 103.7 per cent.
In city corporation areas, 20,66,180 people had received the vaccine against a target of 19,05,950, taking coverage to 108.4 per cent.
