Ziaul Faruq Apurba and Naznin Niha are set to reunite on screen after several months, with the popular pair currently shooting for a new television drama.
The actors first appeared together in Zakaria Soukhin’s Mon Duari in early 2025. The drama has since crossed 40 million views. They later worked together in Meghbalika, Ghran and Ochena Ami, all of which have reportedly surpassed 10 million views.
Despite the success of their on-screen pairing, the two had not worked together since March. After Eid-ul-Fitr, Apurba spent an extended period in the United States with his family, while Niha also took a break to focus on her family.
During that time, Niha announced her engagement on Facebook and may get married later this year.
The pair have now joined forces for a new drama written and directed by S R Mozumder. The project is yet to receive a title, while shooting began in late August and is expected to take around 12 days.
Parts of the drama have already been filmed in Cox’s Bazar, with the remaining shooting scheduled to take place in Dhaka.
“This is my 24th project with Apurba bhai, but my first time working with Apurba and Niha as a pair,” Mozumder said.
“I have always received tremendous support from Apurba bhai. He is not only a brilliant actor but also a wonderful person. He remains involved in different aspects of the work and is always supportive.”
The project also marks Mozumder’s first collaboration with Niha.
“She has a strong desire to do good work. I think audiences will see something new from this pair,” he said.
“We spent considerable time on pre-production and are now shooting. We will also take our time with post-production. I believe audiences will enjoy it.”
The nearly two-hour drama centres on time and relationships. It begins with misunderstandings and resentment within a family before developing into a mystery years later.
“Some mistakes in life leave no way of going back. We are trying to tell a different kind of relationship story through that idea,” Mozumder said.
Apurba and Niha will portray a married couple in the drama. Abu Hurayra Tanvir will also make a guest appearance.
The drama will be released on CD Choice’s YouTube channel, although its release date has not yet been announced.
Apurba and Niha are also expected to appear together in two more upcoming dramas.
