A whole generation is bravely breaking the pattern of silence. What previous generations considered private or shameful to discuss is now being expressed openly. Gen Z has reached a point where sharing about discomfort is not only normal but empowering.
Often labelled “dramatic,” Gen Z is frequently misunderstood. But are they dramatic? Or have they simply learned to understand themselves better? Growing up in an era where information is just a click away, they’ve also learned the language of emotions.
From Boomers to Millennials, they were always told to be silent. So, they never got the chance to name their feelings. Today, young people know when they are overwhelmed, when they are in depression or if they are being delusional.
But they are also very careful about labelling their emotions. Every time you’re sad, it doesn’t mean you’re depressed. Whenever you are anxious, it doesn’t mean you’re having a panic attack. There are so many words in their vocabulary, and to be honest, the right wording is important to express your feelings to someone so that you get the proper help you need.
Ask a Gen Z about their emotions, and they’ll likely explain them in detail. They don’t carry emotional baggage silently; they voice it, process it, and focus on solutions. Caring for mental and physical health is non-negotiable for them; being “loud” about feelings is essential.
Now, other generations are getting influenced to talk about their emotions; they are now trying to open up. This young generation has established that carrying emotional baggage is not something to be proud of; they made the shift, and everyone is now following the path.
Gen Z is setting a trend to care about mental health, emotions, and feelings. This trend should never fade away. People of every generation suffer; now it’s time to be loud about it and make life a little more beautiful.
