Team Morocco defeated Team Argentina to win Banglay IELTS’s ‘Battle of Words – Season 2’, a debate competition launched on 19 June to develop IELTS students’ language proficiency, logical reasoning and confidence.
The tournament selected 40 debaters through auditions and divided them into 10 teams before concluding with the grand final between Morocco and Argentina, the organisers said in a press release. The release did not specify the venue or the date of the final.
Banglay IELTS Business Development Manager Abid Khan Shuvo initiated the competition. Teachers Mahfuz and Nishan, alongside other experienced instructors, judged its earlier rounds.
Participants demonstrated their argumentation, analytical ability and presentation skills throughout the tournament, with Team Morocco and Team Argentina advancing to the final.
Banglay IELTS Chief Executive Officer Rashed Hossain attended the grand final as chief guest, while Managing Director Zobayer Hossain was present as special guest. Senior teachers of the institution served as judges.
Team Morocco secured the championship in the closely contested final, with Team Argentina finishing as runners-up.
Tashkia Islam Swapnil was named Best Speaker of the Tournament for her performance, strong arguments and confident presentation throughout the competition.
The champion team received Tk10,000 and a trophy, while the runners-up were awarded Tk6,000 and a trophy. Tashkia received Tk3,000 and a crest, and all finalists were given certificates.
The organisers described ‘Battle of Words – Season 2’ as a platform for IELTS students to practise language skills, develop critical thinking and build confidence. They said similar initiatives would continue.
