Mohammad Ruhul Kabir Khan has been transferred as the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Gulshan Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).
This information was conveyed in an official order signed by DMP Deputy Commissioner (Headquarters and Administration) Shahriar Ali on Monday.
The order mentioned that Mohammad Ruhul Kabir Khan has been transferred as the Deputy Commissioner of Gulshan Division. It was further mentioned that the order will come into effect immediately.
Earlier, on 11 September, leaders and activists of the banned Awami League and its associate organisations brought out a flash procession in Gulshan-1 area.
When police moved to disperse the procession, cocktail explosions occurred and police fired rubber bullets.
Five days later, on Wednesday, the then DC of Gulshan Division, M Tanvir Ahmed, was attached to DMP Headquarters for “administrative reasons.”
On the same day and in connection with the same incident, Gulshan Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Daud Hossain was also withdrawn. However, no specific reason was mentioned in the official order regarding removal of the DC.
