Police recovered the body of a seven‑year‑old child near a pond in Nabinagar upazila of Brahmanbaria on Monday, two days after she went missing.
The deceased, Mim, was the daughter of Mizanur Rahman of Bidyakut village and a student at a local madrasa.
According to her family, Mim went missing on Saturday morning after leaving home for her maternal grandfather’s house. The family filed a general diary (GD) with Nabinagar Police Station.
Locals spotted the body on the bank of Bidyakut Boro Bari pond and later informed police.
Morshedul Alam Chowdhury, officer‑in‑charge (OC) of Nabinagar Police Station, said police had been searching various locations since being informed about the matter.
He said the body was sent to the morgue of Brahmanbaria General Hospital for autopsy. As the body was decomposed, the exact cause of death will be determined after the report. An investigation is underway, he added.
The family has demanded a fair investigation.
