Former Bangladesh captain Tamim Iqbal has said he believes he is capable of becoming the president of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).
Tamim made the remarks in a podcast on the YouTube channel “Sameerscane.” Clips from the interview were released on Thursday and quickly drew attention in the cricket community.
In the podcast, Tamim said he believes he has the ability to lead the board.
“Of course, I think I am qualified to be BCB president,” he said. “Everyone in the cricketing circle has an idea of my capabilities as an organiser.”
The left handed opener also spoke about the importance of good intentions over experience.
“The intention matters over experience, age and all these things,” Tamim said. “You saw experienced people running the BCB for 20 years.”
“For once, trust my inexperience,” he added. “See what happens.”
Tamim had earlier planned to run in the 2025 Bangladesh Cricket Board elections. However, he stepped away from the race before the voting took place.
He has also raised questions about the current BCB leadership. Tamim claimed the present directors came through a controversial election. He described the current administration as an “illegal board.”
Recently, Tamim also filed complaints regarding the election process.
On Wednesday, the National Sports Council formed a probe committee to investigate the allegations related to the BCB election.
The committee has been tasked with examining the complaints and submitting its findings within 15 days.
