Two convicted prisoners have died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Monday morning.
The deceased have been identified as Rafiqul Islam, 54, and Abdur Rahim, 60.
Inspector Md Habibur Rahman, in-charge of the DMCH Police Outpost, confirmed the two deaths.
Both bodies have been kept at the DMCH morgue for autopsy.
According to prison sources, Rafiqul was serving a sentence as a convicted prisoner in a case. He fell ill at Dhaka Central Jail on Monday morning and was rushed to DMCH by prison guards, where attending doctors pronounced him dead after an examination.
Meanwhile, Abdur, was also a convicted prisoner. He fell ill at Dhaka Central Jail on 3 September and was admitted to the neurosurgery department of DMCH. He passed away on Monday morning while receiving treatment.
