President Mohammed Shahabuddin administered the oath to the lawmaker from Tangail-8 (Basail-Sakhipur) at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban.
Ahmed Azam Khan is expected to be assigned the Land Ministry, as State Minister for Land Kayser Kamal has been elected Deputy Speaker.
Born in Basail, Tangail, Azam Khan was elected MP from Tangail-8 in the February 12 election, contesting under the BNP’s “sheaf of paddy” symbol. He had previously contested the same constituency in the 2008 and 2018 national elections but was defeated both times.
