West Bengal actress and entrepreneur Sushmita Roy has entered a new chapter in her life. She has become a mother just three and a half months after marrying businessman Shubhashis Dey for the fifth time.
According to Hindustan Times, Sushmita shared the news on social media after the safe birth of her child. She also opened up about her seven-year journey to motherhood, the heartbreak of losing her first child and the emotional struggle she endured over the years.
The actress said she still carries the pain of losing her first child on 19 March 2019. Reflecting on that loss, she wrote that a dream which ended on that day had finally found a new beginning. She said seven years of waiting, hardship and disappointment had finally led her to experience motherhood. She added that her struggle had not involved any physical incapacity. Instead, she had fought against time, circumstances and many unseen challenges.
Sushmita explained that she chose not to reveal her pregnancy because of her earlier loss. She wanted to wait until her baby arrived safely before sharing the news with everyone.
The actress also thanked her husband, Shubhashis Dey, for supporting her throughout the journey. She wrote that when she believed she might never hear anyone call her “mother”, he made her dream his own. She said he gave her hope, stood by her side and encouraged her to keep fighting. She described his love, trust and constant support as the strongest foundation of her journey to motherhood.
Sushmita married Shubhashis Dey on 6 March this year. She was six and a half months pregnant when they tied the knot. She announced the birth of their child three and a half months after the wedding.
Sushmita, who is known as the former sister-in-law of Tollywood actor Sayak, has frequently drawn public attention over her personal life. Her multiple marriages and divorces have often sparked criticism and trolling. News of her fifth marriage to Shubhashis Dey also generated widespread discussion on social media.
Despite the controversies, Sushmita has now embraced motherhood. Fans and well-wishers have flooded social media with congratulatory messages as she begins this new phase of her life.
