Actor Sunny Deol has issued an update on his father, veteran star Dharmendra, following his discharge from hospital on Wednesday morning in Mumbai.
In a statement, Sunny revealed that Dharmendra’s treatment will now continue at home and urged everyone to respect the family’s privacy during this period.
On Wednesday, Sunny Deol’s team released a statement providing an update on Dharmendra’s health and appealed to the public to refrain from speculating about his condition. The statement also requested that the family’s privacy be respected.
“Mr Dharmendra has been discharged from hospital and will continue his recovery at home. We kindly request the media and the public to avoid any further speculation and to respect his and the family’s privacy at this time,” the statement read.
Sunny also expressed gratitude for the outpouring of love and concern from fans, thanking them for their continued prayers and good wishes.
“We appreciate everyone’s love, prayers and good wishes for his ongoing recovery, good health and long life. Please respect him because he loves you,” the statement continued.
The update follows several photographs of family members visiting Dharmendra at the hospital over the past two days. Their visits came amid a wave of false rumours about the veteran actor’s death that began circulating on Tuesday.
A doctor at Breach Candy Hospital confirmed that the actor had been discharged.
“Dharmendra ji was discharged from hospital around 7:30 am. He will now receive treatment at home, as the family has decided to continue his care there,” Dr Pratit Samdani told PTI.
On Tuesday, social media was flooded with unfounded rumours claiming Dharmendra had passed away. However, his family, including wife Hema Malini and daughter Esha Deol, took to their social media handles to dismiss the reports, assuring fans that he was alive and responding well to treatment.
Throughout his hospital stay, Dharmendra was surrounded by family. His children Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol and Esha Deol, nephew Abhay Deol and wife Hema Malini were all seen leaving the hospital on Tuesday evening.
Bollywood superstars Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Aamir Khan, accompanied by his partner Gauri Spratt, were also spotted visiting Dharmendra at Breach Candy Hospital during his stay.
