The government has reconstituted the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), appointing retired Supreme Court justice AKM Asaduzzaman as its new chairman.
The Cabinet Division issued a notification regarding the formation of the new commission on Monday night. Alongside the chairman, the government has appointed Jahangir Alam Khan and Sajjad Hossain Bhuiyan as the two commissioners of the anti-graft body.
The appointments were made by the President from a list of six candidates – two for each position – recommended by a search committee.
The search committee, which was formed with the Cabinet Secretary serving as its member-secretary, submitted the proposals to the President to facilitate the restructuring of the commission.
Asaduzzaman, who previously served in the Appellate Division, retired from the bench in February 2026.
Among the newly appointed commissioners, Jahangir Alam Khan is a former secretary to the government.
Sajjad Hossain Bhuiyan is a former tax commissioner of the National Board of Revenue (NBR) and served as the chairman of the Financial Reporting Council during the tenure of interim government.
The move to form a new commission follows the resignation of the previous ACC chairman and two commissioners on 3 March this year, shortly after the BNP government took office.
