A worker died during the filming of ‘Love & War’ at Royal Palm Studio in Goregaon, Mumbai, prompting labour organisations to demand compensation for his family and raising fresh concerns about safety standards on film sets.
The incident occurred during the production of the upcoming film directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, which stars Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal.
According to Indian media reports, the deceased, Chandradhari Yadav, worked as a carpenter on the set. The exact cause of his death has not yet been confirmed, although initial reports suggest the accident may have been linked to a short circuit.
The tragedy has drawn strong reactions from labour unions, which have called on the production company to provide compensation of nearly five million rupees to Yadav’s family.
Family members said no amount of financial assistance could make up for the loss of a loved one. However, they stressed that adequate support is needed to secure the future of Yadav’s wife and two daughters.
The incident has once again brought attention to worker safety within the film industry. Labour organisations argue that, despite the scale and budgets of major productions, adequate safety measures for crew members are not always ensured.
‘Love & War’, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and starring Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal, is currently in production and is scheduled for release next year.
