Litton Das suffered his third consecutive duck in the Test series against Australia as Mitchell Starc continued to dominate the Bangladesh batter in Mackay.
Starc removed Litton for zero in Bangladesh’s second innings on day two of the second Test. It was the third straight time Litton had been dismissed for a duck in the series.
Starc has taken his wicket on all three occasions.
Litton faced eight balls without scoring before Starc found his outside edge. Beau Webster took the catch at third slip to leave Bangladesh at 63 for 5.
The wicket came shortly after Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto departed for 31.
Shanto had tried to lead Bangladesh’s fight after they lost three wickets before lunch. But Nathan Lyon ended his innings after the break.
Shanto tried to attack the spinner but found Starc at long off. His dismissal left Bangladesh at 51 for 4.
Litton then joined Mushfiqur Rahim and tried to survive against the Australian attack. Australia brought Starc back with Litton at the crease and the move soon worked.
The left-arm pacer bowled a maiden to Litton before getting him in his next over.
Litton’s latest failure continues a difficult series with the bat. He has now made three straight ducks in Australia, with Starc proving to be his problem every time.
Mitchell Starc removed Taijul Islam later, by bowling him out for 7. At the end of the second session, Bangladesh were 95/8 trailing by 51. Mushfiqur Rahim remained at the crease on 29* as the only recognised batter.
