In a major policy shift, secondary school students who apply for a review of their SSC results will get their exam papers completely re-evaluated, Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon announced on Monday.
The minister assured that any marking errors or discrepancies uncovered during this process will be fully corrected.
Speaking at a press briefing in the conference room of Education Ministry, Milon explained that the government has overturned a decades-old restriction.
“According to our board’s 1998 law, there was no provision for inspecting scripts,” the education minister said.
“We have now changed this. The papers of those students who apply for re-evaluation will be completely re-examined, and necessary measures will be taken if any mistakes or errors are found”.
The policy change was announced alongside the publication of this year’s SSC and equivalent examination results, which revealed a drop in student performance.
The nationwide average pass rate has fallen to 62.25 per cent, with 116,676 students achieving a GPA-5.
This represents a notable decrease compared to the 2025 examinations, where the countrywide average pass rate stood at 68.45 per cent and a total of 139,032 students secured a GPA-5.
