Students of Barishal Government Model School and College boycotted classes and examinations on Monday morning to protest against the resumption of primary education activities at the institution.

The demonstration led to a complete suspension of academic activities at the institution.

Students from classes VI to X and the college section took part in the protest in front of the college premises. They issued a 24-hour ultimatum, warning that they would enforce a complete shutdown from Tuesday morning if their demand was not met.

Earlier, the students submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner, urging the authorities not to reopen the institution’s suspended primary section. They argued that resuming primary education activities would adversely affect secondary and higher secondary students.

College Principal Tapan Kumar Saha said that no decision had been made on resuming activities in the primary section. He added that he was discussing the matter with higher officials to reach a resolution.
