An elderly woman was killed after a motorcycle hit her in Demra of the capital on Sunday night.
The accident took place around 10pm on the Borobhangha bypass road in the area.
The deceased was identified as Dalimun Nesa, 78.
Her son, Sohrab Uddin, said their village home is in Suhagpur of Nalitabari upazila in Sherpur.
The family now lives in a rented house in Sarulia of Demra. His mother worked as a domestic help in different houses.
He said she was returning home after work on Sunday night. While crossing the road near their residence on the Borobhangha bypass road, a speeding motorcycle hit her from behind, killing her on the spot.
Sub-Inspector Md Abdur Rauf of Demra Police Station said police could not identify the motorcycle involved in the incident.
He added that the body was handed over to the family without an autopsy following their request.
