Sobhana Mostary contributed 42 off 48, while Sharmin Akter added 22 off 29. The innings was undermined by a slow start, with opener Juairiya Ferdous falling first ball and Taj Nehar managing just 1 off 12.
In response, South Africa lost captain Laura Wolvaardt to Marufa Akhter without scoring, but Tazmin Brits and Annerie Dercksen steadied the chase with a 52-run second-wicket stand. Brits made 20 off 24 and Dercksen 45 off 45 before both fell, leaving the outcome uncertain. Marizanne Kapp was kept unusually quiet, scoring 16 off 21, and Nadine de Klerk’s 15 kept South Africa in contention.
Needing five from the final over, South Africa got over the line to seal victory, ending Bangladesh’s campaign on two wins from their group matches.
