The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is adding a few new elements to this season’s National Cricket League, with the eight divisional teams set to have their own coloured helmets alongside the newly introduced first-class baggy caps.
The NCL is scheduled to begin on October 3, and the tournament committee has introduced the changes as part of an effort to give the competition a distinct identity. A BCB official confirmed the plans to TIMES of Bangladesh.
The helmets will match the colour of the baggy cap assigned to each division and will feature the logo of the respective divisional sports association at the centre.
“There are several initiatives that will gradually become more visible. We are giving helmets to all the players, with each division getting its own customised colour. The helmets will feature the respective divisional logos and will match the colour of the baggy caps assigned to each division,” the official told TIMES on condition of anonymity.
The NCL will also have newly designed trophies this season, which are being specially produced abroad.
“We are also bringing specially designed trophies from abroad,” the official said.
On Wednesday, the captains of the eight teams were presented with their specialised first-class baggy caps at a ceremony at the Tigers Den inside the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur.
