The Bangladesh Cricket Board has charged two more people over alleged corruption linked to the last two editions of the Bangladesh Premier League.
Former Chattogram Royals owner Md Abdul Kayum Rashed and former Durbar Rajshahi and Chattogram Royals team official Md Amin Khan face several charges under the ICC Anti Corruption Code, the BCB said on Thursday.
Rashed was the owner of Chattogram Royals in the 12th BPL. Amin worked as a team official for Durbar Rajshahi in the 11th edition and Chattogram Royals in the 12th.
Both have been accused of involvement in fixing or improperly influencing matches.
Rashed also faces charges for failing to report a corrupt approach, not cooperating with investigators and obstructing the investigation. The BCB said he refused to provide his main mobile phone for examination.
Amin has also been accused of encouraging or helping another participant to engage in corrupt conduct. He faces further charges for not cooperating with the investigation and allegedly hiding or destroying information that could have been relevant to the probe.
Both have been provisionally suspended and have 14 days from receiving their charge notices to respond.
The charges are the latest development in the BCB Integrity Unit’s wider investigation into alleged corruption in the BPL.
Earlier this month, three former BCB officials were also charged over alleged corruption linked to the tournament.
BCB Integrity Unit independent chair Alex Marshall had said that several investigations were still ongoing and more announcements could follow.
