Director Giasuddin Selim has brought Pori Moni and Imtiaz Barshon together for his new web film Separation. Shooting for the project began last Saturday at a shooting house in Dhaka’s 300 Feet area.
The team also filmed at the Channel i building on Tuesday. According to Selim, only a few more days of shooting remain.
In Separation, Pori Moni plays a newspaper editor and publisher, while Imtiaz Barshon portrays a university professor. The two characters are husband and wife, and the story revolves around tensions in their relationship.
This marks Barshon’s first collaboration with Giasuddin Selim. The actor said he had long wanted to work with the filmmaker.
“Selim bhai’s reputation as a filmmaker speaks for itself. I have watched his remarkable work since my teenage years. When I started acting, I hoped that one day I would work under his direction. That has finally happened,” Barshon said.
He is also excited about the story, describing it as a relationship that moves through different shades of emotion.
“The story moves through a relationship that is sweet, bitter and spicy. Pori Moni is wonderful and very sincere as a co-actor. Our experience of working together has also been great,” he said.
Selim, meanwhile, praised Barshon’s acting ability and his contribution to the production team.
“Barshon is truly a wonderful actor. I have worked with everyone from the late Humayun Faridi to Chanchal Chowdhury. To me, Barshon is a genuine artiste, and I am very happy with his performance,” Selim said.
He also described Barshon as an important member of the team, saying, “Many people work on a production, but only some become true team players. Barshan is a team player.”
Pori Moni previously worked with Selim in Swapnajal and Gunin. After four years, she has reunited with the director for Separation.
Speaking about her character, Selim said the role is challenging for the actress.
“The character is challenging for Pori Moni. She has matured with age and experience, and this role demands something different from her at this stage. I feel she is sincerely trying to become the character,” he said.
The 60-minute web film Separation will be released on the OTT platform iScreen. The director has not yet announced the release date.
