The latest episode of popular magazine programme ‘Ityadi’ has been recorded in Jamalpur, a picturesque border district with the Meghalaya hills visible in the distance.
The episode, written, directed and presented by Hanif Sanket, will air on Bangladesh Television on 25 September at 8pm, following the Bangla news bulletin.
The episode features two songs. Popular singers Pantha Kanai and Tosiba Begum perform one, with lyrics by Liton Adhikary Rintu and music composed and arranged by Suman Kalyan.
A song-and-dance segment introducing Jamalpur features Mizan Mahmud Rajib and Shithi Saha. Written by Moniruzzaman Palash and composed and arranged by Ujjal Sinha, the performance has been choreographed by SK Zahid and features local Bengali and Garo dancers.
Four audience members were selected through a quiz on Jamalpur and later performed excerpts from four timeless songs by celebrated cultural figures from the district.
The episode also features reports on nakshi kantha, milli or pithali, Jamalpur’s history and heritage, and its archaeological treasures. Another report follows Ferdous Hasan Bappi and Osnai Khatun, a couple who overcame physical disabilities to become self-reliant.
The foreign segment explores China’s picturesque city of Suzhou, while a conversation between Kashem TV’s reporter and his grandson and the programme’s regular letter segment add to the episode.
